Stunt man in the making

Santa gave Diar this scuba skate for Christmas. The average young fella is supposed to use it under the water but our Diarmy is no averager and found a much cooler use for it.

Here in Oz, rather than kicking around a ball (which Diar is missing very much) they jump off the jetty into the sea. I have been asking to go and watch them, which understandably, has been met with some reluctance! So to keep his Mammy happy Diar demonstrated some of his moves in the pool at our apartment on 'Straddie'.

Diar sends his love (hands are in a heart) to someone special out there! (His Granny of course)

Fresh air!

For Christmas this year set sail for North Stradbroke island. It is just a 45 minute ferry ride from the mainland. We stayed in the car for the journey but little Nara needed some fresh air. Not that she reminds me of a dog, but this photo did remind me of our family dog 'Misty' who loved having her head out the window while driving.

Brisbane visited

Mam sent me a super jigsaw for Christmas and for the last couple of weeks we have been going crosseyed trying to do it- now that we have it bet there is some time for a bit of blogging! So a happy New Year to all, may it be filled with good economic times!

I was a very lucky girl this Christmas and after constantly badgering Jonathan to take this photo and that, I was awarded with my very own SLR, but I am now expected to also do my fair share of blogging.

We spent a week in Brisbane city before Christmas (Diar finally got to play some rugby and attended a camp outside the city for the week). While Jonathan battled rush hour traffic to get him there Nara and myself chilled out at the city beach. She is becoming a right little water baby and loves the sand too, particularly when it's in her mouth.

After some retail therapy Diar and myself tried out this deep massage chair, while I loved every minute of it Diar did not share in my enthusiasm.

While Diarmy sweated it out on the rugby pitch we got to see some of the sights of Brisbane. Southbank (riverside park, city beach, rainforest walk etc.) was fabulous and we spent lots of time walking there. It is linked to the city botanical gardens via the pedestrian Goodwill bridge across the river. Nara got a free ride via Daddy taxi and after I was assured the bridge would not collapse sending us 20 metres below into the muddy Brisbane river we set off. In the big floods of 1974 (the year Jay was born) the water levels in the botanical gardens reached a record high as shown by this marker. I'm sure Jonathan will add some proper sightseeing shots ( I'm more the family snapshotter!)

My 'pretty in pink' babies!
